About The Project
Barsana is an ancient holy town in Mathura district, about 150 kms from New Delhi. A significant percentage of the locals (known as Brajwasis) are poor and have limited access to medical facilities. As a result, elderly villagers from Barsana and surrounding villages, lead a life of dependency due to cataract induced blindness. Something, which is easily preventable by timely interventions and care.
The Bhaktivedanta Eye Hospital at Barsana is a truly visionary project that will help restore and improve the eyesight of many Brajwasis. It is a charitable venture, in which the mood is direct, very honest and pure service. Since 1992, Bhaktivedanata Eye Hospital has been providing eye & dental care services including free cataract surgeries through Annual camps & a make-shift day care unit.
The small hospital set-up and lack of capacity is a limiting factor to achieving our goal of eradicating cataract induced blindness and treating eye related ailments. Hence the requirement of a state-of-the-art eye care facility in Barsana. The construction of the new eye hospital building on a 5-acre plot in Barsana, started in May ’22. In phase-I, the built -up area will be about 48,000 sq ft. When ready, the new 76 bedded hospital will have 4 state of art operation theaters, equipped with the latest technology in ophthalmic surgery and eye care.
